The Weekend I’ve Dreamt About

The day was finally here. I had been hoping and planning for this day for so long that it seemed like a dream. I kept thinking back to the phone conversation when he told me he was actually going to be able to come visit…

“It’s set baby, I have it all worked out and I can be there Friday night.”

“Oh my god, are you serious??” I couldn’t believe my ears.

He chuckled, “Yes I am serious, but I have to leave on Monday so it will be a short visit.”

“I don’t care, I am just so thrilled you get to come.”

We talked a while and when he told me he was home and had to let me go and we said our goodnights, I hung up the phone and started screaming for joy. Then the reality of it hit me and I felt physically ill. So many “what ifs” were flying through my head.

What if he doesn’t like me once he actually meets me? What if he doesn’t like my cooking? What if someone finds out? What if the image he has of me in his mind is nothing like the real me? What if I bore him?

And then I was worrying about what to wear, how to greet him for the first time, how I should do my hair, and how was I ever going to have this house clean enough for his visit??

Now that the day is here, I don’t know if I could be that bold. I took a long hot shower this morning, taking special care to shave and make every inch of me baby smooth. Then stepping from the shower, I took a lot of time with my fragranced lotion and a light spray of perfume. I spent a lot of time on my appearance, drying and curling my hair and applying just the right amount of makeup.

I had settled on my short black skirt, nothing underneath of course, and my red silky tank, no bra, and my black see-through shrug. I slipped into my black heels and put on my charm bracelet and earrings and a thin gold chain around my neck. Double-checking my reflection in the mirror, I was about as pleased as I could get…and that is saying a lot for me.

I quickly checked my watch and noticed it was too early for him to be here. It was just a neighbor kid wanting to play with my boys. I told him the kids were gone for a week and got rid of him quickly.

I was pacing, wondering what to do to pass the time when the phone rang. It was Luanne. “Is he there yet?”

“Do you think I’d be answering the phone if he was?” I replied.

“Sweetie, you sound so nervous, are you okay?”

I thanked her for her support and hung up, but not before promising her that she’d get a chance to meet him at one point in the weekend.

I checked my watch again and it was 6:45pm…I felt like throwing up. The butterflies in my stomach were wreaking havoc on my system. And then I caught a flash of blue out the window and my knees went weak. He was here; finally here…after 11 months of wanting to have him near me, it was actually going to happen.

I watched from the window as he pulled into the driveway. The top was down, and he was definitely so much more impressively handsome in person. And then he stood up and even though I knew how tall he was, I wasn’t prepared for seeing all of him in my driveway and thought to myself that I’d be lucky to come up to his waist!

It was hot & humid outside, I opened the back door and took a step outside and suddenly the air was electrically charged with lust. Yes, I was still nervous, but my feet propelled me toward him and with a whispered hello, I threw my arms around his neck and his kiss sent me into nirvana. I knew this was just the start of a great weekend.
